Head of SW Engineering
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and architecture of embedded software for advanced video streaming devices (RTP, RTSP, HLS, SRT, WHIP, Linux/RTOS).
- Build and mentor senior and mid-level engineers, set roadmaps, conducting code reviews.
- Oversee integration of video processing modules (encoders/decoders, FPGA/DSP acceleration) with hardware interfaces and vendor SDKs for ultra-low-latency streaming.
- Architect secure, scalable APIs and middleware for multi-device setups, monitoring, orchestration, and FW/SW updates in broadcast environments.
- Drive CI/CD, automated testing (Python), and video workflow optimization for 24/7 reliability.
- Resolve debugging and protocol compliance issues (like ST2110, IPMX).
- Ensure security (TLS, encryption, secure boot) and scalability for cloud-edge hybrid deployments in video streaming ecosystems.
- Report to executive leadership on innovation in video streaming architectures.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- At least 10 years of experience in embedded software and 5 years in video streaming or broadcast tech.
- Proven track record architecting embedded systems (Linux/RTOS/Yocto), video streaming protocols (HLS,MPEG-DASH, WHIP, SRT, RTMP, RTSP, NDI) and codecs (e.g. H.264, H.265, JPEG-XS, JPEG-2000).
- Expert in C/C++ for embedded; proficient in Python for automation; experience with Git.
- Embedded & Video Expertise, real-time constraints and video pipeline optimization.
- Networking & Protocols: Advanced knowledge of IP/multicast, QoS, and streaming standards (SMPTE); experience with FPGA integration for video processing.
- Expertise in Agile/Scrum, CI/CD (Jenkins/GitLab), and embedded testing frameworks.
