Hardware Design Engineer
We are looking for a full-time Hardware Design Engineer to work in our Hauppauge, NY facility. The engineer must be self-motivated and comfortable working in team environments with other engineers based either in Hauppauge or remote locations.
Responsibilities and Duties
- BSEE/BSEET/BSECE from an accredited university
- 7-10 years of experience in hardware and firmware design and the support of microcontrollers and FPGAs
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to design and troubleshoot digital electronics and communications electronics to the IC level
- Ability to design and troubleshoot analog electronics for line voltage power supply circuits (linear and switching); low voltage power supply circuits; low voltage analog electronics for data acquisition and sensor instrumentation; embedded communications circuitry
- A logical approach to performing competitive product assessments
- Familiarity with SMT and Thru-Hole electronics manufacturing
- Ability to use soldering irons, hand and small power tools necessary for designing, prototyping, and testing electronic products
- Familiarity with schematic capture design packages and simulation tools
- Familiarity with design of RS232/485 and Ethernet network communications products
- Familiarity with PCB layout design. Has had previous experience designing printed circuit boards while guiding other hardware engineers to complete the task
- Familiarity with assembly and/or C programming for Microchip and ATMEL products
- Familiarity with OrCAD Schematic Capture and PCB design tools
- Familiarity with Xilinx FPGAs, Verilog or VHDL, and Vivado environment
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with AutoCAD design tools
- Knowledge of SMPTE standards for SDI video and AES audio
- Knowledge of SFPs
- Familiarity with SDI IP cores
- Familiarity with Serdes IP cores
- Familiarity with Arduino platform
- Experience in analog audio design
