PRESS RELEASE: 10 Gbps Electro-Optical Switch with NEW EOS-4000

The EOS-4000 Electro-Optical Switch is a scalable, non-blocking, transparent, electro-optical matrix routing switcher. The EOS-4000 series is capable of switching digital signals up to 10 Gbps. System configurations are fully scalable from 2 by 2 all the way up to 288 by 288 matrix sizes.

The EOS-4000 is ideal for switching any digital optical signal such as DVI Single & Dual Link, HDMI, RGB-HV, Digital Video, SDI, HD-SDI, 3G HD-SDI and all future standards up to 10 Gbps.

The system supports full matrix, non-blocking switching and point to multi-point or multicast with one wavelength in one direction. The EOS-4000 support for AMX and Crestron control via RS232 or Ethernet IP

Scalable chassis of 72 x 72, 144 x 144 and 288 x 288 are available. Scalable I/O Blades are scalable in increments of 36 ports. Scalable SFP pluggable optics on each I/O Blade gives additional scalability from 1 to 36 ports per I/O Blade. The supported bandwidth through SFP ports is up to 4.25 Gbps.

Scalable 10 Gbps XFP I/O Blade is available for future migration to 10 Gbps Video transport. The 10 Gbps I/O Blade includes 9 XFP ports per blade.

Fully Hot-swappable modules include I/O Blades, power supplies, network management module, SFP and XFP transceivers. Optional redundant power supplies are available.

The EOS-4000 Family of switches are fully scaleable. Addition I/O port cards can be added at any time. Since the optics are the pluggable SFP or XFP type, the scalability is on a port by port basis.

Any digital fiber optic signal can be optically switch from one point to multiple points. The EOS-4000 is compatible with the Multidyne digital fiber optic product line from the RGB-5000 to the HEMC-400.

The GUI software allows user to build configurations by dragging and dropping ports. The system provides point-to-point, multiple loops, and multicast topologies simultaneously.

The EOS-4000 is designed to accept up to eight modular port cards with up to thirty-six Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) transceiver modules per port card. Each SFP transceiver module provides the physical ports for one input-output pair. Different types of SFP transceivers support a variety of network configurations including 2.5, 2.125, 1.25, 1.0625 and 4.25 Gb/s. The 10 Gbps XFP I/O board provides a migration path to 10 Gbps video fiber transport. The media ports can be configured for 850, 1300 and 1550nm optical, HSSDC2 copper, SFP-HDSDI-BNC and XFP. Links can support up to 50 kilometers.
