MULTIDYNE’S NEW HalfCuBE FIBER SOLUTION TO TAKE CENTERSTAGE AT IBC 2010

July 26th, 2010

Lightweight Solution Offers up to 40 HD Signals, Option for a Signal Generator and HD Monitors

AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS, SEPTEMBER 10, 2010 MultiDyne Video & Fiber Optic Systems, a premier provider of fiber optic-based video and audio transport and routing solutions for broadcast and pro A/V applications, is introducing the HalfCuBE portable fiber optic field transport system at this year’s IBC2010 (Hall 2, Stand A54).

The HalfCuBE allows production teams to bring once-in-a-life-time events to life. Designed for the fiber optic field transport of composite, HD video, PL, IFB, audio and more, the HalfCuBE can solve the challenges presented by multiple audio feeds by allowing for up to 40 channels over just one fiber. The HalfCuBE can also solve the challenges of camera video, viewfinder and intercom feed requirements for both fixed and roaming production cameras. The HalfCuBE is format friendly, ready for standard cameras or the latest 3G HD 1080P production cameras.

In addition, the new test and monitor features make the HalfCuBE especially effective for in-the-field signal monitoring. NASA LIFTS OFF WITH MULTIDYNE’S VIDEO AND FIBER OPTIC SOLUTIONS

April 27th, 2010

HD-1500HD-1500 and RGB-5000 Solutions Give the Public a Glimpse Inside NASA Control Room

LOCUST VALLEY, NY, APRIL 27, 2010
– MultiDyne Video & Fiber Optic Systems, a premier provider of fiber optic-based video and audio transport and routing solutions for broadcast and pro A/V applications, is helping NASA TV document history at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD. With several major space missions, NASA TV’s production team called upon MultiDyne to provide its HD-1500 fiber optic link and RGB-5000 systems to transport video from the center’s Space Telescope Operations Control Center (STOCC). These solutions moved video from across campus to the NASA TV control room, capturing several exciting moments in national history and displaying them for the public on NASA TV.

Two years ago, the TV production staff at the NASA Goddard Flight Center began looking for a video transport solution that would take advantage of the NASA campus’ robust fiber optic infrastructure. Production staff met with MultiDyne representatives at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) convention to discuss their needs and equipment criteria for NASA projects. As MultiDyne equipment features HD video capability and adheres to SMPTE standards, the center’s TV production manager selected the HD-1500 and RGB-5000 solutions, with plans to upgrade to the DVI-6000.

The MultiDyne HD-1500 supports the distribution of digital signals from 5 Mbps to 1.5 Gbps over singlemode fiber, transporting video from three Panasonic cameras installed in the STOCC to the NASA TV control room.  From there, video of the action-packed control room is used on NASA’s full-time satellite TV channel, on a daily “STOCC Update” TV program as well as for B-roll for various news organizations, documenting history for the public. In addition to the shots of the STOCC, the TV production staff also used MultiDyne’s RGB-5000 to transport real-time animation from NASA’s telemetry programs, incorporating high-resolution data from the spacecraft into NASA TV’s live programming. Recent NASA missions that were filmed include Servicing Mission 4, the final servicing mission for the famous Hubble Telescope, and the landmark launch of the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO), which represents the first step in NASA’s return to the Moon.

“Using our products, NASA TV has been able to design a high-tech system for transporting video across its campus, making sure that HD video of NASA’s milestones is available to the public,” says Frank Jachetta, managing director, MultiDyne. “It’s a thrill for us to be able to work with such a visionary agency as NASA and we look forward to continuing to provide it with our proven solutions for all of its fiber optic video transport needs at the Goddard Center.”

MULTIDYNE’S MULTI-FORMAT HD-1500 FIBER OPTIC LINK TO HIT THE RED CARPET AT THE VANCOUVER WINTER GAMES OPENING CEREMONIES

February 2nd, 2010

MultiDyne - LiGHTBoXLOCUST VALLEY, NY, FEBRUARY 2, 2010 – As the Olympic torch is carried into BC Place Stadium for the official opening ceremonies of the Vancouver Winter Games, MultiDyne Video & Fiber Optic System’s HD-1500 Fiber Optic Link will be in action transmitting signals from the announcer booths and red carpet. MultiDyne, a premier provider of fiber optic-based video and audio transport and routing solutions for broadcast and pro A/V applications, was chosen to supply its HD-1500 and LiGHTBoX® field fiber transport systems for the Canadian broadcast by CP Communications, the largest provider of wireless equipment to the sports broadcasting industry.

For this year’s opening ceremonies, CP Communications required the option of monitoring both HD and SDI signals and wanted to transport video back and forth from its client’s announcer booths to the network’s broadcast trucks. As a longtime user of MultiDyne equipment and with over 60 HD-1500 links in-house, CP Communications knew that the HD-1500 was one of the few products on the market designed for monitoring multiple formats in one single unit. With this in mind, the HD-1500 was incorporated into booth kits assembled for the client’s French, English, combined French/English mix and red carpet announce booth kits of equipment to be used during the Games’ opening ceremonies.

“Reliable products are important for any project, but the Olympics and the live broadcast of the opening ceremonies absolutely steps up that need a notch,” says Kurt Heitmann, senior vice president of sales for CP Communications. “Security is also tighter for a major event of this stature, so you have to be able to rely on the equipment you ship in because you don’t have the opportunity to replace a product if it stops working. We have never had a failure with a MultiDyne product, and that gives us the confidence to recommend the HD-1500 to our customers, who are very comfortable using a high-quality solution like MultiDyne’s HD-1500 at this year’s opening ceremonies.”

Beyond its reputation with CP Communications for reliability, Heitmann also touts the HD-1500 as user-friendly, noting that the solution is easily rack-mountable unlike other smaller devices on the market that do not come with rack mounts. Further, as other products have much smaller displays, Heitmann appreciates the HD-1500’s large LED indicators for data rate, HD, lock and power that aid users who need to quickly identify certain functions.

MultiDyne - LiGHTBoX Rack FrontIn addition to the HD-1500 links, CP Communications will also provide clients at the Olympics with custom LiGHTBoX field fiber transport systems that will be used to transport audio and data bi-directionally as well as provide two-wire to four-wire communications for the camera operator.

“With MultiDyne, you can customize just about any product,” says Heitmann. “Their customer service is above and beyond and they are very flexible; they will work with you to develop unique, cost-effective products for you and your customers. We worked closely with them on the custom LiGHTBoX units and we just wouldn’t have been able to do that with some other manufacturers. As a company, we think MultiDyne is tops.”

The HD-1500 and LiGHTBoX units will be used at this year’s Vancouver Winter Games beginning February 12, 2010. For more information on the HD-1500 or LiGHTBoX, please visit www.multidyne.com.

With recent rentals to premier broadcast networks including the BBC, West End Productions and large corporations like Sony, One Box Television was looking to upgrade its equipment to further incorporate the most sophisticated HD solutions on the market into its custom-made, “One Box” broadcast rental system. As the system is used for remote productions, One Box Television selected the SilverBULLET 3G fiber optic links for their ability to transport 3G signals over long distances on a single mode of fiber, their ease of portability and their extremely compact size.

“By combining the SilverBULLET modules with our other technology, the on-camera boxes now allow full vision control of HD cameras over 100 metres, as well as feeding time code, talkback and reverse vision,” says Richard Stevenson, founder of One Box Television. “The product revolutionizes the stability of our pictures, and has allowed much longer cable runs than were previously available to us over coax cable.”

Designed for quick and easy installation, the SilverBULLET supports transmission across SMPTE 424M 2.97 Gbps, SMPTE 292M 1.485 Gbps and SMPTE 259M 270 Mbps standards regardless of format. The transmitter modules also include equalization for long lengths of coaxial cable, further easing the installation process as users can incorporate the SilverBULLET at any point in the HD/SDI chain. With error free pathological pattern operation, low system jitter and embedded audio support, the SilverBULLET provides a typical link distance of up to 30 km (18.6 miles).

“The SilverBULLET is an ideal addition to London’s One Box Television’s existing custom rental package,” says Frank Jachetta, senior vice president of sales and operations for MultiDyne. “We’re pleased that companies from around the world look to Bright Space Technologies and MultiDyne to provide state-of-the-art equipment for their system upgrades, and as rental companies look for new ways to stay ahead of their competitors in 2010, they can rely on our full product line to provide the most cost-effective, reliable and long-lasting products on the market.”
